Application — Growth

270 reviews sit on The Sourdough Sidekick, and a $179.99 device needs that proof working harder on the site.

Danilo Vicioso

Who I am

  • Former COO of Tabs. Built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it.
  • Founded Mainstreet, a consumer home-services platform: a team of 70, $25M raised (Greylock, Khosla, YC, Tim Ferriss). It failed.
  • Before that: Quintessential Ventures, an early seat at a high-growth startup, and entrepreneur-in-residence at Prehype.
  • I'm moving into growth specifically. The creative and top-of-funnel work is what I want to be doing every day.

What I noticed

  • The Sourdough Sidekick carries a 4.51 rating across 270 reviews. That is real proof for a device, and it can lead every ad and sit near the buy button.
  • Free shipping and 30 day returns are stated for The Sourdough Sidekick at $179.99. For a purchase this size, that risk reversal belongs in the first line of every ad.
  • The Sidekick can produce up to 525g of starter, with a minimum goal of 150g in days 1-2 and 400g for days 3-7. A creator can show that number on camera.

What I built

What I'd do here

  • My KPI: scale ad spend, hold target CAC. Everything else follows from that. For a $179.99 device, one number to protect matters more than clicks.
  • Week to week: launching a bunch of different experiments, losers killed early. One variable per test, starting with free shipping and 30 day returns.
  • Creators: busy home bakers, first-time bakers facing a from-scratch starter that can take 14+ days, and bakers who already use King Arthur flour.
  • Reporting so you never have to ask. Daily CAC. Weekly what we learned. Monthly cohort payback on The Sourdough Sidekick at $179.99.
  • Event tracking I'd spec and work through with your team. That part isn't me. I haven't seen how your checkout events fire.

Creators come on two a week, ten live by week six. Each posts the same number of videos, so output climbs from 14 to 70 a week. New ads and landing pages follow: ads from 12 to 20 a week, pages from 1 to 9. Proposed.

Creator videos a week = creators live × videos per creator. Week 1: 0 × 7 = 0; Week 2: 2 × 7 = 14; Week 3: 4 × 7 = 28; Week 4: 6 × 7 = 42; Week 5: 8 × 7 = 56; Week 6: 10 × 7 = 70.

How I'd start

  • Build a claims sheet from your own wording: Auto mode, no discarding for up to a week, free shipping, returns. Creators stay inside it.
  • Brief the first two creators from busy home bakers who already keep a starter, and film the feeder doing its job on a kitchen counter.

I'd love to chat if this makes sense. Grab a time here.
